The Gift of Evangelism

Jesus gives the gift of the evangelist to the church, not so that the church might outsource evangelism to a particular office in the church. He gives the evangelist to equip the church so that every believer can grow in the call to be Christ's witness through their lives. Through the calling of Jesus' first disciples, we see that Jesus chooses the ordinary to do the extraordinary precisely "to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us."
