The Gift of the Holy Spirit

Drawing from Acts 1 and Jesus' teaching in John 14–17, this sermon reveals that the Holy Spirit is not an optional addition to the Christian life but its very foundation. Without the Holy Spirit, we cannot truly confess that Jesus is Lord, and just as our faith begins by the Spirit, it must also continue by the Spirit. Yet like the Galatians, we often begin in dependence on God only to rely on ourselves. Rather than treating our relationship with God as a transaction by seeking His power to accomplish our plans, we are called to seek His presence.

God did not give us His Spirit merely to make us more useful, but to draw us closer to Himself. When we truly understand this, our service flows not from obligation but from overflow, not from duty but from delight in His love.
