The Blind Spot of Control

Rooted in James 4:1-10, this message confronts the often unseen desire for control that hides beneath our anxiety, anger, and pride and exposes how our attempts to manage life on our own terms are not only futile but spiritually dangerous. Like Adam and Eve in the garden, we seek to be our own gods—but God calls us to surrender. We discover that the opposite of control isn’t chaos—it’s trust. And while our blind spots reveal how far we fall short, James 4:6 gives us hope: “But He gives more grace.” In Jesus, we see the one who perfectly trusted the Father, so that we can release our grip and rest in God’s sovereign hands.
