2022 Morogoro, Tanzania

We went as a team of six and we weren’t sure what we’d be able to do with such a small team compared to other larger teams that went on similar missions trips. But this was all a part of God’s providence. Because we were a small team, we were more nimble and were able to visit far more sites and do far more for smaller churches, even visiting a Christian Masai tribe. We partnered with 30 or so seminarians from Morogoro Bible College, a ministry started by Missionary Chang Sik Choi almost 25 years ago, And through which its graduates have planted over 200 churches in that span of time. We partnered with Missionary Choi’s to support this network of local churches with VBS programs and evangelistic crusades.

I have been praying to be a missionary to North Korea ever since God restored me to the faith my freshman year of college. This dream is what led me to double minor in Korean Studies and International Relations, what led me to take a gap year in college to be a missionary to the Far East for a year, what led me to become a pastor, and ultimately it is what led me to be passionate about church planting as well.

Seeing Missionary Choi start a seminary that trains local pastors to plant churches all across Tanzania was a huge revelation to me and clarified how I might actually fulfill my convictions for North Korea. I realized that this is something really possible if the opportunity arises and I am beginning to see how everything that I am a part of is preparing for this incredible vision. If you want to know more about this, I’d love to meet up with you. God is truly working in tremendous ways!

P.S. This summer’s theme was “Hakuna Mungu Kama Wewe” which translated means “There is no one like our God.”

There is none like you among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like yours.

All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name.

For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God.

Psalm 86:8-13
